It took a lot less effort to size on the Redding. The Redding is very heavy and uses 4 bolts to keep it on the bench. New washers and tighter nuts on the bottom should cure this. 338 Spectre owners reporting 1' groups at 100 so it should be no issue. I mainly use this press for decapping brass, so I never noticed the flexing before. Again, I patently SUCK at shooting so I would have to have a better shooter do the work. The washers on top of the press are pretty thin, and allow the press to flex on the bench. The 338 spectre has like 44 mag velocity as far as supers go where the 8.6 has 308 (16') velocity. How do I resize the brass More important than trim length is shoulder set back as this.
The LNL Classic only has two bolts to hold it to the bench. Making another AR15 platform caliber to compete w/ 300BLK is less likely to see adoption vs being able to sell something as 'The 300BLK of the AR10'. The official length is 1.250 but you can leave it untrimmed at 1.255. I lubed the mouth of the rest of the cases.
Case 1 and 2 took a lot of effort to pull off the expander ball. Dented case wall.Ģ 1.2425" 1.249" Case mouth was uneven. I used Unique case lube on all the cases.ġ 1.244" 1.252" Too much lube. I measured the five cases in each press before and after forming. Running the formed cases through it was fine, but trying to form cases required more force than I felt comfortable with, and it caused the case feeder to shake a lot. I tried to form some cases in my LNL AP, but it took a fair bit of effort, and I don't think the press was designed to be used for case forming. I formed five cases in my Hornady LNL Classic and five in my Redding T7. I decided to throw some brass into each of my three presses and see how much effort it's going to be to form all this brass. Make sure you use plenty of Imperial Sizing Wax on it though and even then, it is one of the hardest cases I have ever formed. 338 SPECTRE CASE TRIM FREE
The case mouths were free of burrs, and the flash holes were as well.
